The saga of Chief
Keef hit a dispiriting low point this week when the 17-year-old rapper
was arrested in Chicago on charges that he violated his
probation. Members of the hip hop community are still reacting to the news, and
in a recent interview with MTV News, Keef labelmate and supporter 50 Cent
weighed in on the situation.

"With Chief Keef, it's unfortunate to
hear that he's actually locked up," Fif said. "I feel bad, because I feel like I
knew that was gonna happen. I knew what continues to happen afterwards if you
let it spiral out of control."

In previous interviews, 50 has
said that he can relate to Chief Keef and has defended him from critics who
deemed the young rapper reckless. The G-Unit
general made a cameo on the recent Keef single "Hate Bein' Sober," a video for
which was never shot due to Keef's truancy.

"I haven't been in
communications with him following that, and I wish him the best," Fif said.
"Chief Keef, I think he has something, obviously. Even within the system, no one
has done anything yet for Chief Keef. He's still just this raw music, raw
talent, because he shot all of these music videos in his living room."

Keef was arrested Tuesday (Jan. 15) following a probation hearing. Among
other evidence, prosecutors produced a video from the website Pitchfork that
depicts Keef shooting guns at a firing range — a forbidden activity under the
terms of the probation set in 2011.

freshman rap star Kendrick
Lamar quite the compliment when, during a recent interview, he called
his debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d. city, his favorite album of last
year. Lamar first learned about the comments while speaking with Fuse recently
and seemed genuinely surprised and humbled.

"That's crazy, I didn't hear
that," he said. "That's amazing, just off the fact that it's Nas."

Lamar said the props were particularly meaningful given how much he's looked
up to the Queensbridge icon.

"You can hear the influence on my music, you
hear the influence on my storytelling," he said. "For somebody that's been an
elite player in this game for so many years, a veteran as far as longevity and
skill, that's an accomplishment just on words alone."

Speaking with the Associated Press earlier this month, Nas said
he was "really happy" about GKMC, Lamar's major label debut for
Interscope.

"I needed that," he said. "His record reaches you. It gives
you hope."

Frank Ocean Nominated for GLAAD Award

One of the music industry's most
celebrated artists of last year with six Grammy nominations, Frank
Ocean is now being cited by an outside group as well. The "Thinkin' Bout
You" singer has been nominated for Outstanding Music Artist at the upcoming
GLAAD Media Awards.

The gay and lesbian group nominated Ocean, who came out last year, along with
other LGBT artists including Scissor Sisters, Rufus Wainwright and
Adam Lambert.

"This year's nominees enlighten and entertain, but
also reflect a new American landscape where a growing majority accept and value
their LGBT family, colleagues and friends," GLAAD President Herndon Graddick
said in a statement announcing the nominees.

The GLAAD Media Awards will take place over three separate ceremonies in New
York on March 16, Los Angeles on April 20 and San Francisco on May 11.

Guerilla Black Arrested for Credit Card Fraud

Guerilla Black, the rapper from Compton, has been arrested in Los
Angeles on charges of credit card fraud.

Black, 35, was taken into
custody yesterday by local police as well as members of the United States Secret
Service, the LA Times reports. The credit card scam
reportedly crossed international borders into Switzerland, Nigeria and England,
with perpetrators, including Black, raking in upwards of $20,000 per month.

Black, born Charles Tony Williamson, was on pre-trial release for unrelated
fraud charges at the time of his arrest. In July 2012 he was arrested for
allegedly buying thousands of stolen credit card numbers.

Prior to all his legal troubles,
Black made a splash in 2004 with his debut album Guerilla City. The
heavy-set, dark-skinned baritone drew sometimes unfavorable comparisons to the
Notorious B.I.G.

Real Husbands of Hollywood and Second Generation Wayans Score

Real Husbands of Hollywood
and Second Generation Wayans earned big laughs and big audiences in their
television debuts. Deadline is reporting that both series were cable
TV’s top original shows on Tuesday. Real
Husbands grabbed 4.15 million viewers for its 10 p.m. debut and a 2.1
rating. The series, which stars Kevin
Hart and Nick Cannon, was the top sitcom cable premiere this
season for total viewers. The audience for the RHOH only grew in the
evening. By its 11 p.m. encore, the series racked up a total viewer-ship of 6.5
million for the night.

With that strong lead-in, Second Generation Wayans also scored a
healthy viewer-ship. The series, which stars Damien Dante Wayans,
Craig Wayans and Tatyana Ali, drew an audience of 3.4 million,
which represented a 1.7 rating for the evening. Once SGW repeated airing
was factored in, it bumped up the overall viewers to 4.7 million.
