He says violent music leads to violent behavior
Listen to Lupe Fiasco on iHeartRadio
Lupe Fiasco is asking fellow rappers to put their violent rhymes in check. In a series of tweets posted over a 20 minute span Sunday, Fiasco linked the uptick in violence in the real world to violent music and violent media in general. Lupe says rappers need to take responsibility for their art.
He also owns up to doing the things he's now speaking out against but says at a certain point you get tired of it and have to ask yourself what are the reasons behind it and why is it okay to live like this.
Lupe has shared his opinions on violent rap lyrics in the past. He stirred controversy last year when he called out fellow Chicago rapper Chief Keef for his rap style. His comments sparked a Twitter feud between the two. Lupe later apologized for his remarks.
